Wrinkle reduction

As part of the ageing process we unfortunately get fine lines and wrinkles. By using Botox® in minute amounts we can temporarily weaken the muscles that create the frown lines. This results in a smoother younger looking appearance.

It is the most popular cosmetic treatment as it has great efficacy with minimal risk.

We offer a variety of treatments for fine lines and wrinkles including Brotox, Mini-botox, fillers and chemical peels.

What does the procedure involve?

Reducing the muscle activity involves injecting relaxing agents into the muscle (Botox®). This involves a few tiny injections into the forehead, brow or around the crows feet. The treatment takes about 10 minutes. You can usually return to work.

What areas can be treated?

The most common areas are:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Vertical frown lines
  • Crows feet/smile lines

Other areas we treat are neck lines (platysmal bands), chin dimples, square jaw reduction (masseter muscle), bunny lines (nose wrinkles), chemical brow lift.

Who is the treatment best suited for?

Anyone who has fine lines and would like a slightly fresher look. Don’t expect facelift type results. During your consultation you will be provided with various options and the pros and cons thereof.

Wrinkle reduction FAQ

  • Question: Botox® is a tiny protein that blocks the receptor on the muscle. The signal from the nerve thus does not get to the muscle and results in no temporary weakening. The muscle activity is what is causing the wrinkles and thus as time goes by the wrinkles will slowly improve.

    Answer: How does Botox® work?

  • Question: I don’t want that frozen look!

Answer: We don’t like that look either. It means that too much has been injected. We inject a base amount and then add more if we need it at a later date.

  • Question: When will I see the effect?

Answer: The effects tend to appear after about 3-5 days. It is a gradual onset.

  • Question: Do I need to take time off work?

Answer: No you can return to work.

  • Question: What if I don’t like the result of the treatment?

Answer: The beauty of these non-invasive treatments is that they are temporary. That is, the effect will reduce as time goes by.

  • Question: Can more than one procedure be done at the same time?

Answer: Yes, we often perform 2-3 treatments at the same visit. Treating the skin from the outside and inside often has a cumulative effect. We can thus do Botox and fillers at the same session.

  • Question: Do I need to repeat the treatments?

Answer: Non-invasive treatments are generally temporary. The effect can last 3-4 months in cases of Botox® for the face.

  • Question: Is Botox® safe?

Answer: Botox® has been used for over 25years. It is used more in the medical field than in the cosmetic field such as cerebral palsy, vocal chord disorders, incontinence etc. Cosmetics is a small field in which it is used. Over 1million Botox® treatments are performed a year. That figure should be assuring.

  • Question: Are there any risks and complications involved?

Answer: With all medical treatments there are risks involved. These will be discussed during your consultation. Common side effects are minute areas of redness for 30min-1hr. Very rarely one can get temporary drooping of the eyelid. This can be improved with some eye drops.
